Prima Dumba

Now that the election is over, Newsweek is about to release several articles that chronical the players of both the major campaigns.

Both campaigns made deals with certain reporters of Newsweek for special access to the candidates and their staff on the condition that anything they learned through that special access couldn’t be published until AFTER the election was over.

Well, it is over.

Newsweek has started spilling the beans on Sarah Palin and her shopping sprees and other things.

NEWSWEEK has also learned that Palin’s shopping spree at high-end department stores was more extensive than previously reported. While publicly supporting Palin, McCain’s top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy. One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her familyclothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent “tens of thousands” more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as “Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus fromcoast tocoast,” and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books.

Wasilla hillbillies. That is about right, by gosh.

But it isn’t just Newsweek. Fox News Chief Political Correspondent Carl Cameron appeared on The O’Reilly Factor and explained what he had learned about Palin and her relationship to the campaign. Even more telling was how McCain aids were terrified of Palin’s complete lack of knowledge on basic national and international issues or even basic civics.

For example, Palin thinks Africa is a country, and that SOUTH Africa is the southern part of that country.

Here is a video, and notice that as Cameron tries to tell O’Reilly about Palin, O’Reilly has this “can’t be bothered” attitude about the whole thing:

Can you just imagine if there hadn’t been the overwhelming defeat of McCain, that this woman might actually be a heartbeat away from our immenent disaster?

Dumber got Dumb.
