Thanks – I needed a chuckle this morning.
Hey – are Scott Walker and his Republican cronies going to lead the way by voting themselves a lower salary and eliminating all their fringe benefits? (Dre-e-e-e-eam, dream , dream , dream)

The Republicans may not vote themselves lower salaries, but some of them will be getting NO salaries after Wisconsinites vote next time. Unfortunately, they will still get some pension money and fringe benefits, even for a short time in the statehouse.

Re: “Pension money.”

And where are the Teabaggers on that one?

In a Rolling Stone piece, Matt Taibbi described being at a Tea Party meeting where every other person was retired and collecting Social Security and many were driving ‘Hoverounds’ even if they didn’t really need them, since Medicare would foot the bill for them. These are the same people who want the govt out of their lives and a balanced budget — I wonder if they’d be willing to give up their Medicare-funded Hoverounds for the cause? In the same fashion, many of them collect pensions from the govt, especially the retired military, or pensions underwritten by the govt, but don’t connect that to their desire to have a smaller govt or the GOP wanting to sell off their SS and pensions to Wall Street or cut them completely. See, they earned their SS and Medicare; other workers who happen to be black or brown and worked just as hard at the same kind of jobs for the same retirement benefits are not as deserving because they’re ‘lazy.’ Really, this is the way they think and yet they’ll guarantee you they’re not racist in the least. Fortunately, they are a tiny minority but, along with the equally marginal number of Christopublicans, all the GOP has left, except a small contingent of rich people.

As far as pensions for Republican pols, I doubt they’ve thought that far — or ever will.

So they want “theirs,” but when it comes to the kids and the grand kids they want fu_ck it up, um “fix it.”

We need to start a campaign: “Cut the Deficit! Eliminate benefits and retirement packages for all Congressmen.”

(To be run alongside, “Cut the Deficit! Tax the rich.” “Cut the Deficit! No Entitlement Tax Breaks for Big Business!” I’m sure there’s lots more like, “Tax Churches!” Hell, the Catholic Church alone might eliminate the deficit.)
