Warfare for the Heart

Warfare for the Heart

Written by Lilith Raymour

What was I to do?
You knew we couldn’t be
I knew we couldn’t be
Yet you
With that bulldog stubborn grip
Unwilling to let go

To euthanize what’s left of love
Is never a pleasure cruise

Love’s Brief Return

Love’s Brief Return

Written by Lilith Raymour

If I could return to those days with you I would
Life was so sweet back then
And innocence was unknown
Because that’s all that was
How was I to know I would miss
What I didn’t even know I had
And once gone
Could never have again?

We were oh so grand together
Weren’t we?
What would have happened
If virgin lovers had consummated that love
In paradise?
Would we have ruined what we had
or turned love into love for a lifetime?

Now that bitterness
has placed a permanent crack in the cup
a Titanic breach in the hull
Is there anything left for us?
I think not

Yesterday
While you thought I slept
You sighed and said to a friend
“Oh, how I miss her”
Admitting you knew
We could never be us again

There
In the briefest of moments
I loved you as much or more
Than I did years before

Damaged goods

Bella LaGross-E

Bella LaGross-E

Written by Ye Olde Scribe

The old lover found him on the web
Hoping to rekindle
What either never was
Or what had died
He E-mailed her back

“Love lost is a vampire
It sucks out common sense
Turns you into a creature of the night
Attempting to play the same chord
Put the CD player on repeat
Make the record skip
Back to the beginning”

“Find your crypt
Stab the heart
You shall be free”

The Eyes Have It

The Eyes Have It

Written by Ken Carman

You drive me bats
Though I love you anyway
So many quirks
Lurking beneath life’s water
Spread over love’s toast
Like slightly soured butter
I eat my breakfast
And you gaze up at me longingly
Lovingly

Or do you just want my toast?
