The Tattlesnake The Worms Turn On the Wormy Edition

Plus: Palin Prop Blames the Hired Help, the Rove-Rezko Connection, and the GOP Fear of Michael Moore

Well you know it’s really hit the fan when all McCain can do is babble on vacuously about Joe the Plumber while Sarah the Terror veers off the reservation with an eye to her own future political career and the Backstage Crew, Steve Schmidt and Rick Davis’ crack squad of Rove-inspired GOP intelligentsia who have managed to mount one of the worst and most negative political campaigns in modern history, are eviscerating each other anonymously in the pages of The New York Times magazine. The End is Near, but not in Palin’s ecumenical concept of that notion, as the Solons of Scat have realized they simply can’t chisel and cheat enough and in a sufficient number of states to overwhelm the Obama juggernaut. With a dozen days to go and the Dem ahead by as much as 10 points in rock-ribbed Republican Indiana, the game is up. Expect resumes to be sailing out of McCain’s HQ any day now, if they haven’t been already. Meantime, The Tattler will stick to his earlier prediction: If Indiana goes to Obama, the rest of the Rust Belt Midwest, from Iowa to PA, will follow and it will be an early night and a landslide of over 300 electoral votes for BHO.

The barely mentioned saving grace this time around is that Rove’s nasty tactics arent working for McPalin, just as they didn’t work in 2006, nor in the subsequent special Congressional elections in GOP districts in Illinois, Louisiana and Mississippi, all won by Dems.

Thankfully, we are seeing the final death of this horrific negative-campaign monster — created by Nixon’s dirty tricksters, perfected by Lee Atwater, and adopted with a few new kinks by Rove — played out in the Palin-McCain fiasco, a proof of that Euripides quote: “Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad.” Is there any doubt that what is destroying McPalin at this point is their own insanity?

When asked by David Shuster on MSNBC, Oct. 23, 2008, to explain ‘non-elitist’ regular-gal Sarah Palin’s expensive taste in clothes and accessories, ‘Republican Strategist’ Jennifer Millerwise-Dyck fell back on the time-tested and threadbare GOP excuse blame the underlings. She basically said that Caribou-Slayer Mom was too busy herding her kids and mucking-up campaign appearances to do her own shopping, so it was all the fault of her clueless staff forcing her to wear those pricey duds from Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman-Marcus. Yes, Sarah really wanted to go to ‘Tar-Zhey’ but her damn staff fouled up! Do you laugh at the ludicrous flop-sweat desperation or moan at the pathetic lack of imagination? The Palin-McCain crack-up is like watching a limbo contest how low will they go?

There’s a good reason why McPalin has not tried to tie Obama to ‘Chicago corruption’ via Tony Rezko the way they have flayed away at the nothingburger Bill Ayers connection. Aside from the fact that Obama has been cleared by investigators in the Rezko indictments that are chiefly concerned with influence peddling for Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, there’s a certain name, well-known in GOP circles, who would pop up in any such reference: Karl Rove. Yup, as Michael Isikoff at Newsweek noticed last April, Rove’s name has appeared in testimony at the Rezko trial in a by-now common arena; he allegedly and illegally tried to get prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald removed from the Plamegate case with the help of an influential Illinois Republican. Any wonder why McCain doesn’t want to ‘go there’?

Larry King had on Michael Moore last night (10/23), but not quite for the ‘full hower.’ The last fifteen minutes of the show were taken up with three third-string McPalin cheerleaders a halfwit talk show host nicknamed ‘Bags’ or something; a Reliable GOP Fembot from the Virginia Republican Party, and Michael “I Used to be a Liberal But the Neocons Pay Better” Medved. None of them left much of an impression, try as they might to twist, diddle and tap dance around to make the broken-down clown car that is the McCain Circus of Doom appear as a serious campaign, but it did lead me to wonder this: What is it with these neocons that they have to have a three-to-one advantage over Moore, and they wouldn’t even appear with him, but after him to ‘rebut’ his arguments? This is just plain lame. Perhaps after Mike’s drubbing of CNN’s Sanjay “Just Call Me Doctor HMO!” Gupta over the facts on our putrid health care system presented in Moore’s film “Sicko,” the Higher Powers at the cable news network decided their viewers didn’t need that much raw truth again.

The Tattlesnake – The Turn of the Screwed Edition

And Other Worms in the GOP Apple

Obama just made two very smart moves:

1.) Buying a half-hour of TV primetime on the Wednesday before the election. If he plays it right, this will be like a presidential address ahead of the election, making any part of America that still has doubts comfortable with Obama in the Oval Office. Better yet, he won’t have Grandpa Crank or a moderator to step on his message, and McCain doesn’t have the cash to buy a half-hour of his own.

2.) Setting a trap for McCain by telling ABC’s Charlie Gibson “[W]e’ve been seeing some pretty over-the-top attacks coming out of the McCain campaign over the last several days that he wasn’t willing to say it to my face. But I guess we’ve got one last debate. So presumably, if he ends up feeling that he needs to, he will raise it during the debate” Biden also called McCain out for his Ayers-Rezko-Wright malarkey. This painted McCain into a corner: If in the Oct. 15th debate he doesn’t respond to the challenge and bring up the nasty personal attacks his campaign has been making, he risks appearing like a wimp to his own supporters; if he does, he looks like a petty jerk and takes the chance of Obama not only skillfully dispensing with the slurs, but also sticking it to McCain on the Keating Five, lobbyist Vicki Iseman, McCain’s campaign manager and lobbyist Rick Davis, Watergate crazy man G. Gordon Liddy, and McCain’s ties to the anti-Semitic and racist U.S. Council for World Freedom. Obama could rightfully point out that his casual connection to Ayers-Rezko-Wright never cost the taxpayers a dime; McCain’s association with the Keating Five and lobbyists Iseman and Davis, on the other hand, cost the public billions.

Surprise! Sarah Palin’s hired Munchkins up in Alaska just found her innocent in the Troopergate affair on Thursday, one day ahead of the release of the official report, ’cause that’s just the way we do business up here in the Great White North, buster.

Ya know, I betcha Palin’s whole ‘moose hunter and sport fisher’ thing is just a buncha staged photo-ops to enhance her Alaska political career and she never drank a six-pack in her life. (Gotta watch that figure, dere!) I’ve met women who hunt and fish and they don’t have long, beautifully-manicured fingernails of the type Sarah the Terror has had since her first beauty pageant. (In fact, it would be impossible to keep their nails like that and still do such things as ‘field dress a moose.’) This is like the Bush Boy putting on a Stetson hat and pretending to be a real Texas cowboy — the man is terrified of horses!

Speaking of the Crawford Dauphin, he keeps showing up on my TV screen lately making short speeches on the economy, a subject he knows nothing about and doesn’t have the skills to confront. Since no one really cares what Junior has to say, why don’t his handlers just lock him in the Oval Office with some video games – the news channels could run an old Droopy cartoon instead, which would affect the economy as much as any babbling Bush bromide.

Have you noticed Republicans aren’t pushing that old ‘restore morality to the White House’ line this time around – they no doubt realize how stench-ridden and despicable is the Palin-McCain debacle and even the Fox News sheep would laugh themselves silly at such an assertion.

The Tattlesnake — Media Mania: When Do We Draw the Line on This Nonsense? Edition

The latest overwrought BM (Big Media) guilt-by-association crapola has to do with Father Michael Pfleger making fun of Hillary as a guest speaker at Obama’s Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago. Predictably, Obama has had to apologize for this but why? Pfleger is a Catholic priest and Trinity UCC is Protestant, and Pfleger was just making a guest appearance in Obama’s church. What’s more, Obama wasn’t consulted about, nor was he there for, Pfleger’s You Tube star turn. Why should he have to apologize for anything Pfleger said? What’s next, will the BM, or Clinton’s campaign, demand he apologize for any errant thing that any member of his UCC congregation might say? (Pfleger, incidentally, apologized for his comments today.)

Say, whatever happened to free speech in this country and that you and only you are responsible for what you say?

When does this GBA madness stop, or when does the media start grilling McCain on some of his unsavory pals from the past, such as Charlie Keating, and his current crop of sleazy buddies, such as lobbyist Rick Davis, his campaign manager?

A little background on Pfleger: Years ago Mad Monk Mike Pfleger made the Chicago papers with his ‘brilliant’ proposal for an anti-drug law that prevented local shops from selling pipes and cigarette papers. Yeah, if those potheads and crack addicts don’t have pipes or papers, they won’t be able to figure out how to make a pipe out of a toilet paper roll and tin foil, or just go to the suburbs and buy what they need. Pfleger’s a flaky publicity hound and it’s a mystery why Trinity ever invited him to give a guest sermon.

The biggest BS moment this week on BM TV was Ann Lewis, a Clinton supporter and DLC Dem, babbling with Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC over Gerri Ferraro’s recent piece of dingbattery in the Boston Globe. Gerri’s back on her broken hobbyhorse, this time claiming that white women are afraid to criticize Obama because someone might call them a racist Earth to Gerri: it doesn’t seem to have slowed down your candidate — or yourself. It doesn’t seem to have stopped Andrea Mitchell, either. While Lewis tried to put a good face on Gerri’s half-mad ravings, she took the time to condemn Obama’s campaign for sexist remarks about Hillary, without specifying what she was talking about. Then she deposited the cherry on top by claiming Pfleger’s ridicule of Hillary was sexist. (I saw the video; he wasn’t making fun of her sex, just her campaign style.) Follow this pretzel logic: It’s wrong to call a white woman a racist for criticizing Obama, but if an Obama supporter criticizes Hillary, they’re automatically a sexist. Ann, are you now or have you ever been a Republican?

One note about Scotty McClellan: This former POTUS potty press air freshener is still flacking for Bush, even while he tries to purge his withered soul of years of publicly spewing horsepucky for every putrid top player in the Little King’s Confederacy of Dunces. I caught him last night on Olbermann and he was ludicrously pumping the fairytale that Bush planned to be a ‘uniter’ who ached to be a good president and went awry once in power, no doubt thanks to that Major League A-hole Cheney. This is sheer bunkum: Scotty has known the Bush Boy since Texas and Junior hasn’t changed since then he lazily and ignorantly ran the Lone Star state exactly the way he’s run the US government give away the store to his rich cronies, take long vacations, and let the peasants crawl for the crumbs. Speaking of which, it’s deeply hilarious to hear neocon nutbags like Bill O’Reilly condemn Scotty for gasp! authoring books for money! What, do Billo, Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity pen their fiction for free?

A Question: How long until MSNBC sells ‘news analyst’ and caucasian embarrassment Pat Buchanan’s contract to Fox News? Nixon’s former speechwriter and Southern Strategy cheerleader has increasingly been falling off the right-wing edge; he’s now barely hanging on by a thread of sanity, and it’s only a matter of time before the braying old Dixie-whistler drops the ‘N-word’ on Obama or some other dark-skinned candidate and is forced by management to take some time off from NBC to stand in the corner and knit another Confederate flag for the den.
