Labyrinth Garden

HERD ABOUT IT?  by ana grarian

I am considering a labyrinth garden for my front yard which flows down from the new house to the trees along the road. I don’t want a gas hog of a lawn, so it has to be planted quite extensively. I plan on leaving the open acreage in the back for pasture, hay and a place to play ball.
Labyrinths are fascinating. I have only walked one, several years ago at Christmas time. I hope it will be visually appealing from both the road and my window, and to provide some sense of solace. It will likely be fluid in more than one sense, as I learn the vagaries of soil, water and sun in my new front yard. I had considered strips; each one populated by a specific plant. I think the spiral will be just as easy(hard) to create and might allow for more diversity. It will be curvaceous like me, a little wild and out of control, complicated.

Yes, it’s time to make big plans while I am well rested from holidays from work,

and a lack of things to do outside. Perhaps when I get there I can start laying out the pattern with a snow blower;-)
