Meduza is a Russian news site that had to move to Latvia because they believe in a free press. Rachel Maddow recently reported on Putin banning Meduza and threatening any Russian citizen that reads Meduza. It was founded in 2014 by a group of former employees of the then-independent Lenta.ru news website.

After Galina Timchenko was fired at Lenta.ru by a Putin oligarch she launched Meduza. They published an editorial against Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and for that was blocked in Russia.
