Election Day, 2026. Early voting in many states severely cut to none at all. Mail in votes stalled by the post office so they don’t count. Most drop boxes removed. In places like Georgia voters come to the polls and find trolls for Trump and the Party have reported them as voting illegally. They had no idea. The numbers amount to millions removed from the rolls.
    Essentially you have to go to the polls on Election Day, and even then you may not be able to vote. Lines for those lucky enough to be able to vote are WAY beyond discouraging..
    You arrive at the polls and ICE is the because you live in a district that tends to not vote Republican. ICE is there. They are not just observing. They are doing more than harassing.
    An agent dragged a black man out of line. A white guy tries to help the him, asks ICE agents or FBI why. He is thrown to the ground, disarmed if he does have a pistol, and shot ten times.
    Maybe you live in a blue state and the governor has sent the state police. Maybe they, despite toe governor’s orders, step back. If not now will we have a war at the polls? People scatter. ICE claims they must be illegal or terrorists, and starts shooting. So many voters don’t vote.
    Trump declares martial law, stops all voting at some precincts, maybe even in the state, in the country. In some less than blue states when it’s obvious the vote isn’t going their way they stop the vote to redistrict, like in Louisiana. Doesn’t matter to them the states do elections. The Constitution? “We don’t need no stinking ‘Constitution!'”
    Or the election has fewer problems and they do promise to count the vote, but you know better. Machines are confiscated, any votes on paper taken away.
    What do we do?
    It’s a rhetorical question. Perhaps not much you or I can do as John or Mary Citizen. We can protest, but they can ignore us or handle it like they handled Minneapolis or worse.
    I write this not to offer a solution. I don’t see a solution. The constant cries to get out the vote might be for naught. Like the shootings Minneapolis all kinds of CLAIMS will be made, preselected lies like those killed were attacking ICE, part of the “terrorist groups” Antifa or BLM. Yes, just like Antifa they certainly are more than capable of inventing some highly organized terrorist group.
    Governors, mayors, state police, local police, honest voters should all do whatever they can to prevent this. To counter this.
    ICE is both Trump’s Gestapo and SS. He WILL use them, The question is to what extent and how extreme.
    Bad sign: Trump has already signed an executive order that mail in votes will be nationalized. NOT GOOD. The post office can delay, delay mail ins until they are not longer valid. Doesn’t matter if mailed before election day. Now it’s when the post office stamps it. You think they’ll do their due diligence? Good luck, especially if the mail ins come from Democratic stronghold, from black areas.
    1/6 gives us a clue as to how far he will go. Since it didn’t get the result he wanted I’m sure he’d be willing to go further.
    ICE should be nowhere near ANY poll.
    None of this should happen.
    Am I being too alarmist?
    Just before 1/6 would you have predicted he would have gone that far? Most of us, of course not. Someone predicted how far it would go would also have been accused of being an “alarmist.” Even paranoid by some. I think to most Americans, like me, mouths were open, aghast at what he started. Just like we were aghast at how all standards were tossed aside to make sure he ran again, despite starting an insurrection.
    Now it’s five years later and those in the previous Trump administration who at least tried to moderate his actions are gone. Even Barr.
    I think 1/6 was just practice for November 2026, And 26 for 28.
