I wrote this yesterday. I was angry because of the silence regarding this horrible behavior. Thank you Stephanie Miller and Thom Hartmann for stepping up to the plate today to gut hit the rhetorical ball back at Ron DeSantis. At first I thought I’d move on to another topic, but with so much focus on Ukraine I thought another voice midst the admittedly important noise over Putin’s war might be appreciated.
Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine…
OK, I get it. something that could turn into WWII, especially if Putin is serious about nukes and decides he wants more prizes under tree: NATO countries/ So, yeah; deserves a lot of coverage. But isn’t there anything else going on? Are we intentionally being distracted?
Not sure if you caught it, but Ron DeSantis just proved what a bully jackass he is. How he’s a horrible example of adulting, maturity and just being a decent person. He gets up to speak with teens standing behind him and some are wearing masks. He HAS TO take that time to loudly humiliate the teens into taking off the masks, calling them names, how idiotic they look, IN FRONT OF EVERYONE.
OK, we don’t agree: I get that. He has his right to think whatever the hell he wants. But this isn’t even close to how an adult should behave. If he had quietly asked the teens why they were wearing them, then quietly said you don’t have to wear them if you don’t want. OK, not a fan, but better. Or: ask them whether it was their choice, or what teachers/parents told them they had to do. Then say, “As far as I’m concerned you don’t have to, but I am glad you respected your parents/teachers wishes.”
That’s what an ADULT would do.
If a teen started doing what he did to an adult: a great guideline for how adults should behave around kids, how would DeSantis behave? If the teen not wearing a mask pulled one out of his pocket and said, “Well, I think you look stupid and ignorant without one, and you’re risking the health of all around you” how do you think DeSantis would have acted?
It’s obvious Ron DeSantis doesn’t care much for the health of Floridians, or public servant who want HONEST statistics out there rather than his intentionally skewed ones. It’s equally obvious that he longs to be some version of what some may consider “more intelligent” Trump if elected to potus in 2024. Or 28.
But; even if I knew none of that, that incident alone told me everything I need to know about this petty, childish bully who doesn’t deserve ANY public position.
