”Representative governance,” if you prefer. Some like to argue, “We are a Republic not a Democracy,” though the difference is really no difference at all, unless we’re referring to countries that merely use the term “Republic.” Those with little if any representation. Which is where we are headed.
It drives me fricken CRAZY. All these leftward commentators who NEVER give the main reason for why Trump ACTUALLY became president. Many go to how unpopular Hillary was. Really? Almost 3 million more votes? Excuse given, “Oh, ALL of them didn’t LIKE Hillary, they just hated Trump.”
The same could be said about Trump. Many didn’t really love Trump. They just hated Hillary more.
But even if so, not even close to the main reason. Jill Stein? Minor cause at best: even if one buys into the “all those votes would have gone to…” fallacy. Gerrymandering? Some. None of these things were “THE” reason, if one had to pick just one.
They reason why, with almost 3 million more votes, she didn’t become president is real easy…
Heavily focus on Electoral College-based politics, state by red (or even purple) state, Republicans have been rigging elections in favor of the Electoral College. This has been going on for DECADES. If someone less than PC lucks out: wins their nomination, extremists sabotage that candidate. The Republican Noise Machine joins in too, mostly with silence if nothing else.
So, yes, McCain, Romney: both lost. Both lost because they were (and still are) loathed by the extreme right for being less than politically correct, too honest and too fair. Notice I typed “too,” NOT actually “fair,” nor “honest.” Just less radical scummy than demanded of them. This is why, presidential election year after presidential election year, they get scummier.
Why not? They know their hate games can keep most of a Democratic president’s goals at bay, or be sabotaged later when PC candidate ascends.
Republicans have been rigging the system state by state for decades. Mostly states they can win easily because they’re red rural states. Once they get the right position(s) they do they’re damnedest to limit, to eliminate, real representative governance.
Provide fewer machines to blacks areas. Cut down on polling stations, or cut them out like at colleges. Armed “poll watchers” intended to intimidate, challenge. If they vote make damn sure via what I call “placebo votes,” better known as provisional. Remove drop boxes and fix mailboxes so stamps are removed by smaller portals, just right for mail in ballot stamp removal. (Thanks to DeJoy. My wife and I noticed this when the same size envelopes kept coming back postage due.) Create long lines in less than PC districts. Deny them food and water.
Where are the long, long lines? Sure as hell not rich white Republican areas.
Close down offices that are needed, like DMV’s, so as to make it harder to impossible to get proof of their right to vote. Purge, purge, purge, purge: whites mostly need not worry. Bogus purging lists like Crosscheck and Exact Match. Caging activities, like sending out confusing postcards one must send back in a limited time. They just find the names from areas that tend not to vote for them and, “Oops!”
I have only begun to list the tactics, and they work very well. All this noise about an election stolen? YES, elections ARE being stolen! Stolen from US. The plot here, if all else fails, is to make it so their candidates can endlessly challenge the vote.
Before anyone claims Kemp in Georgia is some hero: protecting the vote, he has been the king of many of these tactics. He who got to decide his own election via these tactics because deciding who got to vote was his job before being Governor.
So much of the left punditry and pols insist on sticking its collective head up their collective tuchus. They are not unlike human ostriches who hide in their own ass. One way they do it is by constantly spouting polls, while we all know the right doesn’t give a damn about polls. It’s all about sabotaging the vote of those they hate so much it borders sometimes on Hitler and the Jews.
Some Democratic leaders, many pundits, ignore, ignore, ignore. Blame Hillary, blame Stein, blame anyone but the rightward putsch that has been changing our country into an oligarchy, a dictatorship, kind of like Putin’s. Meanwhile many leftward pundits and pols whistle while walking past representative governance’s graveyard, while extreme rightward gravediggers gleefully dig freedom’s grave.
