Especially in an election year, why not let them shut the government down? We could have powerful ads ready to go to run right up to election day, then powerful ads to counter the “rigged” and next insurrection.
I can hear the ad now…

”Economy gone to hell, laid off, no government services, all held hostage year after year, more than once a year? AMERICA, WE CAN NO LONGER BE HELD HOSTAGE BY AMERICA’S HAMAS, ISIS, al Qaeda. For far too long they have been economic terrorists. No more rewarding bad behavior.”

     Provide specifics, every time.
This can work for far more than just the debt limit. So many examples, like the bill they worked for on the border then killing it for Trump’s political gamesmanship. In our ads we could frame them as little kids in the store having tantrums. We’re just giving them a firm “NO” until the behavior stops.
TV? Images of those hurt by what they are doing, Republicans laughing, shaking hands, slapping each other on the back.
This is Muhammad Ali rope a dope. Let them start the punching, act helpless, then come out swinging HARD. This is Muhammad Ali rope a dope. Let them start the punching, act helpless, then come out swinging HARD. The helpless part? We already have that handled because we keep asking for compromise, being victims. But after a brief while come out swinging. Refuse to respond no matter how reasonable they become. I promise you: THEY ARE FAKING. We have to make this tactic they use for so many things HURT them politically. As far as I’m concerned don’t let off until election day, then offer a choice: hand up but if they are faking it show we’re ready for that final lights out punch.
This should work for all they’re hold us hostage tactics, plus dump Trump.
As a kid I learned how to handle bullies. Sometimes bullies need punching; no letting up until they give up. It’s all they understand. It’s amazing how fast the lesson passes among bullies, how quick they learn their tactics aren’t working anymore. They also learn who is an easy target. Our tactic of being the “reasonable” ones has only empowered the Greenes, the Trumps, the Stefaniks.
Sometimes bullies have to be out bullied.
