So, it turns out that one “golden rule” isn’t enough for Donald Trump, even if he disregards the original one.

After all, his love of gold-plated ornaments is insatiable.

Let’s take a look at the “golden rules” that Trump lives by, whether in regards to actual gold, or used in a metaphorical sense.

Here is my take on Donald Trump’s “Golden Rules.”

Golden Rule #1: He who has the gold, gets to make the rules.
This is not a novel saying, but nobody that I know of, exemplifies this more than Donald Trump. Parlaying the appearance of wealth into personal, autocrat-style power is his modus operandi. What better way to appear wealthy, than to adorn everything around him with gold?

Golden Rule #2: If real gold isn’t available or feasible, fake it by using gold paint or anything that looks gold to give the appearance of golden opulence.

Golden Rule #3: Everything that Donald Trump touches, turns to gold, like the mythical King Midas. In order to believe this, Trump has to wear gold-colored glasses, so to speak. He is that delusional. In fact, it is much closer to the truth, to say that he ruins the people and things that he touches.

Golden Rule #4: Be a gold owner, not a gold miner. Always be the boss. Let other people do all the dirty work, and endure all the risks and dangers, that are beneath the privileged station of the “big boss,” even if you have done nothing to earn those privileges.

In other words, when it comes to treasure, hoard it, fake it, and act like you make it. Most of all, act like you deserve it all, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Moving on, we have Trump’s take on the original “Golden Rule.”

Golden Rule #5: Do onto others before they have a chance to do onto you. Take advantage of people from the get-go. Use every opportunity to manipulate them. Flood them with self-aggrandizing talk. Never let up on the self-promotion, even if it means contradicting yourself.

Lastly, here is another “Golden Rule” that Trump lives by, which sources say he learned from Roy Cohn.

Golden Rule #6: Deny, deflect and distract. When people call you out, and trouble is brewing, first deny whatever they say you did. Next, flood the zone with accusations against your opponents, no matter how preposterous those accusations may be. Finally, flood the zone with distractions to make people focus on extraneous topics. Never back down from your claims. Double down on them instead when confronted about them.

Golden Rule #7: (Via Deanna Pouttu). Disagreement with “The Golden Ruler (Trump) will not be tolerated. Failure to cooperate will be viewed as treason or disloyalty, which will result in threats of punishment, up to and including death threats. Dissenters must be kept in line and under control by any means possible.

If ever there were rules not to live by, these are it. However, these by all appearances, are rules that Donald Trump lives by, which a compliant audience and media, and lax enforcement of our legal codes, have allowed Trump not only to get away with, but use them to rise to the highest possible office.

When this national nightmare, headed by Donald Trump, is over – that is, when he is no longer in power or able to talk about returning to power – I believe this nation will undergo a massive reckoning.

Hopefully, laws will be enacted to prevent this kind of thing from happening again. For instance, some kind of prior public service requirement before being allowed to run for president could be enacted. Laws to automatically disqualify people who engage in insurrection could be passed. Vetting to help ensure that candidates will not abuse the power of the presidency could be made standard.

Finally, we ought to tear down all of Donald Trump’s edifices and monuments to himself, whether golden or not.
