Most of us have heard about the name changes of “JD Vance.” However, much like the use of an alias by Peter Navarro which I wrote about earlier (Ron Vara, an acronym for Navarro), Donald Trump has long had a habit of pretending to be someone else in order to praise himself while not appearing to be himself. This is actually somewhat of a theme in Trump World, with Trump taking the lead himself.
This topic actually relates to the deep level of deceit as well as narcissism among Trump and his cronies. Using false identities for self-promotion is not something to be taken lightly.
Wikipedia has a summary of the aliases that Donald Trump has used over the years. The earliest use of an alias by Donald Trump was in 1980, when he posed as someone called “John Barron,” who reported that Donald Trump was ready to buy the World Trade Center. Trump continued to use this alias until at least 1985 to promote himself. As I recall hearing, sometimes he would call radio shows pretending to be “John Barron,” offering praise of Donald Trump. His extreme narcissism clearly goes back to his early years.
The next alias that Trump used was “John Miller,” in 1991. When Ivanna was about to divorce him, Trump pretended to be a publicist named “John Miller,” who gave an interview in which he talked about what a good husband Donald Trump supposedly was. (Yeah, sure, any husband would do that if his wife was trying to divorce him, right? Not right.)
The next year, Trump wrote a letter to New York Magazine, pretending to be his secretary, named “Carolin Gallego.” In the letter, Trump, posing as his secretary, claimed to treat women with respect. The final line of this letter was a doozy. It reads as follows: “I do not believe any man in America gets more calls from women wanting to see him, meet him, or go out with him. The most beautiful women, the most successful women—all women love Donald Trump.” How any one person can encompass such arrogance is beyond me. But I suppose Trump thinks he is the most modest person ever.
The fourth and final alias used by Trump was much more recent, in 2016. This is when he used the alias “David Dennison” in his infamous nondisclosure agreement with Stormy Daniels, a fact which was revealed by Michael Cohen during Trump’s trial about this matter.
None of these aliases have really been secret, at least not by the time of the 2024 election. How people can know any of this, and still trust Donald Trump about anything – or vote for him — is mind-boggling. The man is a lifelong con artist. There is abundant evidence of that, and Trump’s aliases are yet another way to look at it.
And yet, now he is trying to put his real name on everything.
I will leave it at that.
