I just saw a video which showed 100 pages of the “Epstein files.” (It was on Let’s Talk Elections.) They were all blank (completely redacted).
That’s not really what this post is about, but while we wait for some real information from the Epstein files, or from anyone who knows what is really in them, I thought that this would be a good time to have a little fun anticipating the kinds of excuses that Republican politicians will make as the Trump administration inevitably sinks.
These “stable geniuses,” in their state of heightened “emotional maturity,” can probably be relied upon to come up with some real doozies.
.
Let’s start with blaming Democrats:
“It’s Biden’s/Obama’s/Hillary’s fault.”
“I blame radical left lunatics.”
“But but but, Biden’s open borders.”
.
How about deflections and denials to excuse their own behavior?
“That never happened.”
“That wasn’t me.”
“It was AI generated.”
“I was never really a MAGA Republican.”
“Fingers did it.”
“It was the Jewish Space Lasers.”
.
Next, expect them to resort to blaming immigrants:
“They’re eating the dogs. They’re eating the cats.”
“They’re letting them out of prisons and insane asylums.”
“There is an immigrant crime wave.”
“We need to close the borders.”
“Deport them all” (even if they are from here).
.
Then, there is blaming the guy in charge – Trump.
“I was only following orders.”
“Trump made me do it.”
“I had no choice.”
(These people definitely would have been fully obedient in Stanley Milgram’s “shocking” obedience studies.)
.
Finally, they are likely to start blaming each other.
“Steven Miller is the real culprit.”
“Bannon’s a joke.”
“MAGA Republicans are the real problem.”
.
Desperate politicians trying to save their careers, their reputations, or stay out of jail will definitely go into full rationalization mode. We can see this process already beginning.
Let’s keep the pressure on to make them accountable for their actions, which, generally speaking, means Democrats should be winning elections by blowout margins, as Republicans continue to try rigging the system while making life difficult for anyone who isn’t independently wealthy. Eventually, they will run out of excuses.
